Juan Narowé 'Negative Capability' at AMP_Bcn | Art Nou

15 Jun 2022

AMP is pleased to announce what will be its proposal for the new edition of Art Nou 2022: Juan Narowé.

Under the title ‘Negative Capability’, curated by Francesco Giaveri, it will be the first individual exhibition in Spain of the Brazilian artist in which he proposes a series of works on paper and canvas, all of them carried out in recent years.

Juan Narowé’s work moves between drawing and painting with frequent forays into self-publishing and graphic work. The exhibition project that he is now presenting at the Ana Mas Projects gallery, within the framework of the eleventh edition of Art Nou, includes a wide range of languages, media and formats that all arise from drawing. His narratives are nourished by sophisticated references to different disciplines, such as literature and cinema. The numerous elements and characters that populate his imaginary spring from a slow sedimentation and a wide plastic reflection. Narowé’s starting point is often fragments, reminiscences of an after-meal discussion, a conversation or an encounter: bland remnants of a shared moment. Stories and objects that appear to be very simple but whose power to evoke turns out to be infinitely captivating.

Juan Narowé (Mariana, Brazil, 1993) is a Brazilian artist and illustrator who currently works in Hospitalet de Llobregat. Graduated in Visual Arts from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, he has exhibited individually at the Meca gallery in São Paulo and the Funarte MG Center in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
