Raúl Díaz Reyes 'The Memory of Water' at Ponce+Robles

08 May - 15 Jul 2021

Raúl Díaz Reyes is part of the exhibition ‘The Memory of Water’ at Ponce+Robles gallery in Madrid.

The Memory of Water is a group exhibition of five artists whose works make visible the sensory and perceptual experiences of water and watery phenomena and their impact on collective and personal narratives.

Raúl Díaz Reyes participates with the installation Splash! Splosh! Ba-wooosh!. Apart from the onomatopoeic sounds present in the title, Díaz Reyes extends to the visual through the development of graphic signs. Carved out of wood, these fun inventions invoke both symbolic and pictorial representations of drips, drops, splashes, and other liquid behaviors. By combining sounds, images, and other perceptual qualities, they draw on memory reserves to propose a synaesthetic approach to the materiality of water.
